In the increasingly competitive nylon 6 market, the conventional two-step spinning technique with low production efficiency, high cost, and poor functionality has gradually been eliminated, replaced by the low-cost, high-efficiency, and powerful one-step spinning technique. Compared to the two-step method, the one-step spinning technique for nylon 6 is more advanced and the spinning speed is also getting faster, hence it is also known as high-speed spinning.
Due to the fast spinning speed of nylon 6 high-speed spinning, the requirements for production process parameter settings are becoming increasingly strict. The side blowing temperature is one of the key factors in stabilizing the solidification point of the filament and maintaining consistent stretching deformation, macromolecular orientation, and crystallinity of the spinning melt fine flow nozzle.
When the temperature of the side blowing air is too high, the solidification point of nylon 6 fibers shifts downwards, the crystallization transformation of fibers is fast, the stretchability of fibers deteriorates, and there are many spinning ends and high waste rates. Once this phenomenon occurs, it is necessary to adjust the process in a timely manner and minimize its cooling consumption. Priority should be given to meeting the requirements of side blowing. Perhaps a plate heat exchanger can be added to the outlet pipe of the spray pump to cool the spray water with chilled water before spraying.
If the temperature of the side blowing air is too low, the fine flow of the spinning melt of nylon 6 will accelerate during the cooling and forming process, causing cracks and fissures in the fibers, and forming hard fibers. During stretching, there will also be fuzz and breakage, and the stretching function will decrease. At this point, the heating efficiency of the heater can be appropriately increased.
Therefore, through production practice, product testing, and in combination with product functional requirements, setting a reasonable side blowing temperature will play a key role in improving the production rate of nylon 6 spinning, reducing the scrap rate, and minimizing the formation of broken ends, fuzz, and hard fibers.
